More About
Riggins, ID

About RigginsRiggins, where the Little Salmon pours into the main Salmon River, is a starting point for a drive north along US 95 through the scenic gorge of the Salmon River. The town is considered a white-water capital and features opportunities for white-water rafting, boating and fishing.

East of town lies the wilderness of the Payette National Forest. To the west rise the 9,000-foot Seven Devils Mountains, which form a semicircle above the Snake River's chasm, Hells Canyon; some 30 alpine lakes are clustered around the peaks. To the south is the Rapid River Fish Hatchery, one of the Northwest's most successful chinook salmon-breeding operations.
