About SnoqualmieLike most of the towns in this part of the state, Snoqualmie got its start as a lumbering center and prospered further when the railroad arrived in 1889. The completion of I-90 in the 1970s brought easy access, and in the first decade of the 21st century Snoqualmie was one of Washington's fastest-growing cities. If you're a rail buff, a treasure trove of historic railway rolling stock stands on the tracks that parallel SR 202 on the west side of town. An 1890 depot is among several historic buildings in the central business district along Railroad Avenue.
