About St. Croix FallsSt. Croix Falls is a center for outdoor recreation in the scenic valley of the St. Croix River. Long noted for excellent lake and stream fishing, the area is gaining popularity as a winter playground, with more than 350 miles of groomed snowmobile trails. The area also boasts several picturesque hiking and biking trails, including the nearly 50-mile Gandy Dancer State Trail and the southern terminus of the Ice Age National Scenic Trail. Canoeing and kayaking are also popular activities.
Two state fish hatcheries are easily accessible from St. Croix Falls. On River Street downtown, the St. Croix Falls State Fish Hatchery stocks brook and brown trout; phone (715) 294-2525. Osceola Fish Hatchery, 7 miles south on CR S to 2517 93rd Ave. in Osceola, breeds brown trout and all of the state's rainbow trout; phone (715) 294-2525.
