About StillwaterStillwater was settled in 1843 at the site where the St. Croix River widens into Lake St. Croix. The town developed into the state's first logging center. The convention that organized Minnesota as a territory met in Stillwater in 1848. A scenic portion of SR 95 runs 38 miles from Shafer to Bayport.
