About StillwaterOn April 22, 1889, the town of Stillwater was born with a population of 300. A year later the Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical College, now Oklahoma State University, was founded, and Stillwater became one of the Southwest's major educational centers. The city also is known as a center for agribusiness, medical services and industry. Experimental farms can be seen along highways leading into town.
