DescriptionIn 1867, a geologist discovered that the area now known as the city of Sulphur had rich deposits of (you guessed it!) sulphur. Mines operated in the area until the early 1920s. The Brimstone Museum/Henning Cultural Center offers an exhibit highlighting the community's bygone sulphur industry. In October, Sulphur attracts nearly 100,000 visitors with its old-timey Cal-Cam Fair , which features live entertainment, livestock competitions, a carnival and more.
