Lining the western edge of the British Columbia mainland, the Sunshine Coast offers a wide variety of marine and land habitats, from coastal rain forests and rocky beaches to an alpine wilderness with peaks reaching 2,500 metres (8,000 ft.).
Powell River, with more than 100 regional dive sites, exceptionally clear water and deep ocean currents, is called the “Dive Capital of Canada.” Desolation Sound's warm, sheltered waters also contribute to the destination's popularity with scuba divers and kayakers. Sechelt is known for its rich artisan community, while Gibsons is home to up to 200 bird species throughout the year.
