Road Trips

About WalkerWalker, named for pioneer lumberman Thomas Walker, is on the edge of Chippewa National Forest. Proximity to both the forest and Leech Lake makes this northern Minnesota community a favorite summer vacation spot. Fishing, boating and swimming can be enjoyed both at the lake and at Walker City Park, off Railroad Avenue along the lakeshore. Bicycling, hiking, inline skating and snowmobiling are popular on the paved Heartland State Trail, which extends southwest as far as Park Rapids.
