About WeatherfordOn the afternoon of April 18, 1892, Oklahoma began its third land run; throngs of men and women gathered at the border of Cheyenne and Arapaho country, waiting for a chance at land ownership. The next morning they rose early, arriving by wagon and on foot to establish the town of Weatherford.
Once a stop on historic Route 66, Weatherford is home to Southwestern Oklahoma State University, known for its school of pharmacy.
