Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens is s.w. of jct. of I-5 and SR 134 on Zoo Dr. in Griffith Park. Covering 133 acres, the zoo is home to more than 1,400 mammals, birds and reptiles, including rare and endangered species from around the world. More than 250 animal species and numerous plants demonstrate the complexity and diversity of a rain forest at Rainforest of the Americas. Other highlights include LAIR (Living Amphibians, Invertebrates, and Reptiles), Elephants of Asia, Campo Gorilla Reserve, Sea Life Cliffs, Red Ape Rainforest and Chimpanzees of Mahale Mountains. Winnick Family Children’s Zoo enables kids to experience life as a condor at the California Condor Rescue Zone, interact with animals at Muriel's Ranch petting zoo, visit a care center and take a spin on the Tom Mankiewicz Conservation Carousel.

Rental strollers and wheelchairs are available.

Picnicking is permitted. Food is available. Time: Allow 3 hours minimum.
