AAA Editor Notes
Curaçao Maritime Museum is at Van den Brandhofstraat 7 in Scharloo, across from the Floating Market. The island's maritime history is traced with such artifacts as antique ships models and maps. Special exhibits focus on the area's oil industry and such prominent area residents as American consul Leonard Smith, who brought electricity to the island. Video presentations detail the development of the harbor and offer a look at Curaçao's past role as one of the largest slave depots in the Caribbean.

Guided 2-hour tours of the harbor are offered aboard a ferry that also provides transportation to the museum from cruise ships.

Guided tours are available. Food is available.
