Royal Tyrrell Museum is 6 km (4 mi.) n.w. at 1500 N. Dinosaur Tr. (Hwy. 838) in Midland Provincial Park. The museum is in the badlands of the Red Deer River Valley, surrounded by one of the richest fossil deposits in the world. Dinosaurs that once roamed Alberta are now showcased in the museum's Dinosaur Hall, where more than 45 skeletons are displayed.

Fossils, a preparation laboratory, hands-on exhibits and an indoor garden illustrate millions of years of geological and biological development; educational programs also are offered. Fossils in Focus, a rotating exhibit, highlights some of the most scientifically significant fossils in the museum collection. In addition the museum houses a research center and operates a field station near Patricia.
