Fort Edmonton Park
AAA Editor Notes
Fort Edmonton Park is at jct. Fox and Whitemud drs. at 7000 143 St. N.W. Reputed to be Canada's largest living-history park, it depicts Edmonton in four eras: as an 1846 Hudson's Bay Co. fur-trading fort and Cree encampment, as an 1885 settlement, as a developing capital in 1905 and as a 1929 business community and midway.

Streets named for historical eras from the 1840s to the 1920s feature historically appropriate old-time activities. Visitors can visit a wheelwright shop, pump water for tea and play in a penny arcade. Costumed interpreters give demonstrations of pioneer activities such as beading, bannock making and fur pressing. A short 4-D film about the history and development of Edmonton is screened in a reconstructed 1929 cinema. Mini golf, a shooting gallery, wagon and pony rides and streetcar rides also are available. A 1920s-style midway—complete with Ferris wheel, fun house and other attractions—is included.

Pets are not permitted.

Food is available. Time: Allow 3 hours minimum.
