AAA Editor Notes
Columbia Icefield, just inside the Jasper National Park boundary next to Banff National Park, is the largest ice mass in the Rocky Mountains. Its main bulk, about 16 by 24 kilometres (10 by 15 mi.), straddles the Great Divide, part of the British Columbia border and portions of Banff and Jasper national parks. The ice covers about 325 square kilometres (130 sq. mi.) to an estimated depth of 300 metres (984 ft.). Three glaciers—Stutfield, Athabasca and Dome—can be seen from Icefields Parkway.
