Galt Museum & Archives is at 502 1st St. S. at the w. end of 5th Ave. S. Housed in a 1910 building that once served as a hospital, the museum is named for Sir Alexander Galt, one of Canada's Fathers of Confederation and an influential local figure. The Discovery Hall exhibit gallery highlights the history of the Kainai people and southwestern Alberta. The High Level Bridge can be seen from the Viewing Gallery, which overlooks the Oldman River Valley.

$6; $5 (ages 60+); $3 (ages 7-17 and students with ID); $15 (family, two adults and all children ages 0-17).

Museum Mon.-Sat. 10-5 (also Thurs. 5-9), Sun. and holidays 1-5; closed Jan. 1, Easter, Christmas and day after Christmas. Archives Mon.-Fri. 10-5 (also Thurs. 5-9); closed statutory holidays.
