University of Alberta Botanic Garden is 8 km (5 mi.) n. on Hwy. 60 (Devonian Way). Comprising 97 hectares (240 acres) of cultivated gardens and natural areas, the site includes a Japanese garden, a butterfly house, an indigenous garden, a modern Islamic garden, water features, ecological reserves and collections of perennial and annual plants. Nature trails and guided tram tours also are offered.

Guided tours are available. Picnicking is permitted. Food is available. Time: Allow 2 hours minimum.

Admission
Admission June 1-Labour Day $18; $12.25 (ages 65+); $9 (ages 13-17 and students with ID); $4.75 (ages 3-12); $40.75 (family, two adults and all children). Admission in May and day after Labour Day-Thanksgiving $15.85; $11.75 (ages 65+); $8.50 (ages 13-17 and students with ID); $4.50 (ages 3-12); $39 (family, two adults and all children). Tram tour $5; $2 (ages 3-12).
Hours
Daily 10-6 (also Thurs. 6-9 p.m.), June 1-Labour Day; 10-5 in May and day after Labour Day-Thanksgiving. Tram tours daily June-Aug. and most weekends during spring and fall; schedule varies. Phone ahead to confirm schedule.
