AAA Editor Notes
Bragg-Mitchell Mansion is 2.4 mi. e. of I-65 at 1906 Springhill Ave. A combination of Greek Revival and Italianate architectural styles, it is said to be one of Mobile's finest antebellum mansions. Stately oaks surrounding the house were cut down to allow Confederate artillery free range to shell Federal troops. The owner, Judge John Bragg, replanted using acorns from the original trees. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred S. Mitchell, the last owners, restored the mansion to its former beauty with traditional period furnishings.
