AAA Editor Notes
Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site is at 1616 Chappie James Ave. The site honors the Tuskegee Airmen, the nation's first African American military pilots, trained to serve in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Now a museum, the historic Hangar #1 can be toured; it contains two training airplanes. Hangar #2 features exhibits, including a red-tail P-51 Mustang replica, as well as a theater in which a 27-minute film documenting the history of the “Tuskegee Experience” is shown.

There also are wayside exhibits on the grounds and a scenic overlook.

Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.
