Alaska Botanical Garden is 3 mi. e. of New Seward Hwy. on Tudor Rd., then just s. to 4601 Campbell Airstrip Rd. Northern latitude horticulture is showcased in a 110-acre birch and spruce woodland replete with more than 1,100 varieties of perennials, 150 species of native Alaskan plants as well as herb and alpine rock gardens. The garden includes a wildflower walk, a 1-mile nature trail and a creek where salmon spawn in the summer. The peak blooming season commences in late May and culminates in mid-September, occasionally lasting into October.

Note: Enter the garden through a pedestrian gate in the tall moose fence. Though the garden is open in winter, it is often snow-covered.

Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 1 hour, 30 minutes minimum.
