Fairbanks Ice Museum, jct. 2nd Ave. and Lacey St. at 500 2nd Ave., showcases life-size ice sculptures viewable from either inside their glass-fronted display cases, which are kept at a frosty 20 degrees Fahrenheit, or from an indoor theater. The 25-minute multimedia presentation “Freeze Frame” details the harvesting of ice blocks and their evolution into the finished products displayed at Ice Art, an international ice-sculpting competition held each March in Fairbanks. Ice-carving demonstrations are offered during winter, the sculpting season's acme.
