Alaska Raptor Center, .8 mi. e. of Lake St. at 1000 Raptor Way, is home to more than 20 “raptors in residence,” including bald and golden eagles, hawks, falcons and owls. The 17-acre rehabilitation center, surrounded by muskeg, mountains and the Indian River, provides medical treatment to more than 100 eagles and other birds of prey each year. A stage presentation, a video, live demonstrations of birds in flight training and a .25-mile nature trail are available.

Raptors unable to be released into the wild help educate visitors and travel to schools nationwide to raise awareness of wild birds and their habitats. Feathers, bones, photographs and a national map indicating where birds have been released are displayed. Visitors can view raptors in their natural habitats outside the center as well as in the clinic's treatment room and recuperation areas.

Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 1 hour, 30 minutes minimum.
