White Pass & Yukon Route is at Second Ave. and Spring St. A vintage train chugs across mountain rivers and chasms during fully narrated narrow-gauge rides. The rail line was built in 1898 to carry people and supplies to the Klondike gold rush. Passengers travel round-trip in a period parlor car to the summit of White Pass or Fraser Meadows, past granite gulches, cascading waterfalls and spectacular scenery. A narrator tells the story of the stampede north into the gold fields through some of the most rugged terrain in the United States and Canada.

The 3-hour White Pass Summit Excursion rises from tidewater elevations to 2,888 feet in 20 miles. The 4-hour steam excursion to Fraser Meadows rises from tidewater elevation to 3,000 feet in 27 miles. One-way and round-trip excursions to Lake Bennett and Fraser, British Columbia, as well as to Carcross, Yukon, also are available.

Guided tours are available.
