AAA Editor Notes
Granville Island Public Market is at 1689 Johnston St. One of the best places in the city to experience a slice of Vancouver life, this popular foodie destination houses more than 50 independent food purveyors and craft stalls in converted industrial buildings. Strawberries, cherries, artisanal cheeses, baked goods, doughnuts, gelato and locally sourced seafood packed in ready-to-go travel boxes are among the edible highlights. An international food court has fast-food counters with Asian, Mexican, Indian and other cuisines available as takeout. In addition to food items, the market features handmade gifts and crafts from local artists; look for stalls inside the market and in surrounding shops and studios along Johnston, Duranleau, Anderson and Cartwright streets.

The Granville Island Farmers Market sets up outside the market building on Thursdays 10-3, early June-late Sept.

Tip: A pleasurable (and easy) way to get to the market from downtown Vancouver is by ferry; Aquabus and False Creek Ferries provide pedestrian-only service across False Creek Inlet to Granville Island.

Pet friendly (call for restrictions/fees.). Food is available.
