Historic Hat Creek Ranch
AAA Editor Notes
Historic Hat Creek Ranch is 11 km (7 mi.) n. on Hwy. 99 at Hwy. 97 jct. The 130-hectare (320-acre) ranch, on one of the few sections of the Cariboo Waggon Road still accessible to the public, consists of more than 20 historic buildings constructed 1863-1915 when the ranch served as a roadhouse for the horse-drawn stagecoaches and freight wagons of the B.C. Express line (known as the B.X.).

Docents in period costumes conduct guided tours of the 1860s roadhouse, and visitors can explore a heritage apple orchard, a Shuswap native village, a blacksmith shop and a collection of pioneer agricultural machinery. Visitors also can enjoy stagecoach rides and try their hand at gold panning.

Camping is permitted. Food is available.
