Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), 5905 Wilshire Blvd., is a seven-building complex housing paintings, sculpture, costumes, textiles and decorative art from around the world. The collections comprise more than 130,000 works and span the history of art from ancient times to the present. In addition to presenting more than 30 exhibitions each year, the museum also sponsors concerts, film programs and lectures that complement its collections.

Housed in a three-story gallery building designed by architect Renzo Piano, the Broad Contemporary Art Museum (BCAM) features a collection that encompasses works from 1945 to the present by such artists as Jean-Michel Basquiat, Jasper Johns, Barbara Kruger, Roy Lichtenstein, Richard Serra and Cindy Sherman among others. The museum’s innovative structure features a 340-ton boulder by artist Michael Heizer suspended overhead, a third-floor entrance reached by external escalator and large interior spaces uninterrupted by columns.
