Captain Dave's Dolphin and Whale Watching Safari departs from 24440 Dana Point Harbor Dr. From SR 1, turn w. onto Golden Lantern and then n. on Dana Point Harbor Dr. Passengers aboard catamaran sailboats get a chance to be within arm's reach of dolphin pods up to 10,000 strong as well as humpback and fin whales and migrating gray whales (December through April) and blue whales (May through November). The Manute'a has two underwater viewing pods and Eye-Spy Tram Nets for up-close views. An on-board research hydrophone allows passengers to hear the animals underwater while experienced marine naturalists explain how these animals live.

Dolphin and whale-watching tours also are offered aboard a 12-passenger inflatable catamaran that can reach 35 mph.
