Heritage of the Americas Museum is on the Cuyamaca College campus, at 12110 Cuyamaca College Dr. W. The museum is a cultural and educational center reflecting the natural and human history of the Americas. Exhibits in the natural history, archaeology, anthropology and art wings include meteorites, gems, minerals, fossils, shells, effigies, weapons, taxidermy mounts, ornaments, art and jewelry. Of special interest is a headdress given by the Sioux Nation to Charles Lindburgh; Cheyenne Chief Thunderbird's buffalo council robe; and a Nez Perce dentalium shell dress worn during a meeting with President Roosevelt. A collection of Chinese artifacts includes a 2,000-year-old jade burial suit from the Han Dynasty.
