AAA Editor Notes
Angels Flight is at 351 S. Hill St. Known as “The Shortest Railway in the World,” Angels Flight carries passengers a mere 298 feet between Hill Street and the California Plaza Watercourt. The twin, black and orange-crème painted railway cars (named “Sinai” and “Olivet” after the Biblical mountains) began carrying passengers up the steep hill in 1901, were mothballed in 1969, and were reinstalled at their current location a half block south of their original site in 1996. Angels Flight is a traditional counter-balanced funicular, meaning the cars are attached to the opposite ends of the same cable.

Time: Allow 15 minutes minimum.
