AAA Editor Notes
The Old Whaling Station is within Monterey State Historic Park in Heritage Harbor, adjacent to the pedestrian bridge. This adobe was built in 1847 by Scottish adventurer David Wight for his family, and was later the headquarters of the Old Monterey Whaling Co. Whale vertebrae were used to create the pathway in front of the building, one of only a few such pathways in the U.S. A garden is at the rear of the property.
