The USS Midway Museum is at 910 N. Harbor Dr. downtown at Navy Pier. The Midway was the longest-serving U.S. Navy carrier of the 20th century and the largest ship in the world for 10 years. More than 60 exhibits from the engine room to the captain’s bridge are open, and more than 30 restored aircraft—from World War II to Desert Storm—are on display. Other features include videos, flight simulators, docent presentations, climb-aboard aircraft and the Battle of Midway Theater. Two self-guiding audio tours for adults and families (available in English, Chinese, French, German, Japanese and Spanish) are narrated by Midway sailors; a similar audio tour (English only) is narrated by Midway sailors.
Guided tours are available. Food is available. Time: Allow 3 hours minimum.
