Fort Mason Center For Arts & Culture is at Buchanan St. and Marina Blvd. The buildings, a former military base and World War II point of embarkation, houses theaters, galleries and exhibits. Galleries include the Museo ItaloAmericano, the Mexican Museum and SFMOMA Artists Gallery. Traveling exhibits include the SF Antiques Fair and the American Crafts Council.

One of the center's hidden highlights is a small museum operated by the Long Now Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the long-term future. Exhibits include a 10,000 Year Clock and the Rosetta Project, a linguistic database containing information about more than 2,300 languages.

Theater and dance performances, wine tastings, family-oriented events, classes and workshops are presented throughout the year.
