St. Gregory of Nyssa Church

St. Gregory of Nyssa Church is at 500 De Haro St. on Potrero Hill. In addition to an interesting wood exterior, the rotunda wall of this Episcopal church is encircled by a beautiful iconographic mural of 100 larger-than-life saints both secular and non-secular, chosen by the congregation and depicted in dancing poses that reflect various facets of worship.

Representing many eras, cultures and faith traditions, they include such luminaries as King David, Thomas Aquinas, Emily Dickinson, Mohandas Gandhi, Pope John Paul XXIII and John Coltrane, along with bishop, theologian and church patron Gregory of Nyssa.
