AAA Editor Notes
Giant Forest (Sequoia) is 16 mi. from the park entrance station via the steep and winding Generals Hwy. It was named in 1875 by conservationist John Muir. The General Sherman Tree is thought to be the largest living tree in the world; standing about 275 feet tall and about 103 feet in circumference. The Giant Forest Museum has exhibits focused on giant sequoia ecology and the forest's natural and human history. From the museum several hiking trails lead to the Round Meadow and Hazelwood areas.
