AAA Editor Notes
The Ruth Bancroft Garden is at 1552 Bancroft Rd. Planted by Ruth Bancroft in 1972, the garden is a model of the use of xerophytes (plants that require little water). Among the more than 2,000 types of water-hoarding succulents and other drought-tolerant plants that can be seen are aloes, agaves, yuccas and echeverias; the plantings showcase their unusual forms and colors.

Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
