Colorado Chautauqua, 1 mi. w. of US 36 at 900 Baseline Rd., occupies 40 acres at the base of Boulder’s iconic mountain. Founded in 1898, the park was part of the Chautauqua movement, which sought to bring culture to rural areas of the country. Music, dance, theater, silent films and lectures are presented during summer in the historic auditorium. Cultural and educational programs are given year-round. Most of the original buildings remain intact and are still being used for their original intent. Self-guiding tours via mobile phone are available.

Hiking, rock climbing and a playground can be enjoyed. Overnight accommodations are available year-round in cottages and lodges.

Recreational activities are permitted. Picnicking is permitted. Food is available.
