The National Mining Hall of Fame and Museum

The National Mining Hall of Fame and Museum, 120 W. 9th St., is housed in a Victorian school built in 1899. It offers 17 exhibit rooms portraying mining's people and techniques from the Bronze Age through the Space Age.

Visitors may walk through a replicated underground hard rock mine complete with ore cars and drills. The Gold Rush Room exhibits gold samples and mining artifacts. Minerals from around the world are presented in the Hennebach Wing.

Murals, dioramas and sculptures highlight historic mining developments. The Hall of Fame contains plaques honoring individuals who have made significant contributions to the industry.
