House of Culture

House of Culture (Casa de la Cultura) is at Calzada Pedro Galván and Av. Ejército Nacional, about half a mile e. of the main plaza; it is most easily reached by bus. This is the University of Colima's arts center. The modern buildings of this extensive complex include a theater and an art gallery displaying a permanent collection of paintings by Colima artist Alfonso Michel, all set among landscaped grounds. Temporary art exhibits and traditional music and dance performances are regularly scheduled; contact the State Tourism Office for information.
