Hard Tack Mine Tours & Museum is 2.5 mi. w. on CR 20 (Engineer Pass Rd.). The mine, owned and operated by a former hard rock miner, offers 35-minute walking tours that show how hand tools and dynamite were used to blast through the mine’s rock. The Hard Tack Mine tunnel was begun more than 100 years ago by employees of the Hidden Treasure Mine, which produced more than $1.5 million in silver ore. Minerals, crystals and gold panning items are displayed.
A light jacket is recommended, as the mine temperature is 45 F.
