Connecticut Audubon Society Coastal Center at Milford Point

Connecticut Audubon Society Coastal Center at Milford Point is off I-95, exit 34, then .5 mi. s. on US 1, .8 mi. e. onto Naugatuck Ave., then 2.2 mi. s. to 1 Milford Point Rd. Located at the mouth of the Housatonic River, this wildlife refuge and bird sanctuary includes a barrier beach (accessed via a boardwalk) along Long Island Sound. There are beautiful views of the wetlands from the top of a 70-foot-tall observation tower which can be accessed from the wraparound porch.

The center has a variety of educational exhibits and live animal displays (turtles, iguanas, snakes). Benches on the porch allow for the observation of the many species of resident and visiting birds. Live web cams with TV monitors keep an eye on nesting birds and other marshland doings.
