Stamford Museum and Nature Center is .7 mi. n. of Merritt Pkwy. exit 35, at High Ridge and Scofieldtown rds. on SR 137. The 118-acre site features a working New England farm with heritage breeds of animals, a nature center with live animals, a museum with changing and permanent exhibitions, an observatory with a 22-inch research telescope and a playground. Hiking trails and universally accessible paths lead through a hardwood forest.
Museum open Mon.-Sat. 9-5, Sun. 11-5. Observatory Visitors' Night Fri. 8-10 p.m., Labor Day-Apr. 1; 8:30-10:30 p.m., rest of year (weather permitting).
