Noah Webster House & West Hartford Historical Society is at 227 S. Main St. Lexicographer Noah Webster, author of the first American dictionary and the “Blue-Backed Speller,” was born here in 1758. The restored farmhouse and an adjoining museum contain period furnishings and changing exhibits; an audiovisual presentation commemorates Webster's life.
