Alexandria Black History Museum, 902 Wythe St., interprets the contributions of African-Americans to Alexandria's history and culture from 1749 to the present. The Robert H. Robinson Library, built in 1940 as the result of a protest at the city's segregated library, houses the Watson Reading Room along with books and documents about African-American cultural traditions. A short distance away is the 9-acre Alexandria African American Heritage Park, which encompasses a wetland area, sculptures and a 19th-century African-American cemetery.

Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.
