AAA Editor Notes
The Pentagon, across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C., accessible via I-395, the George Washington Memorial Pkwy., I-66 or US 1, is one of the world's largest office buildings. The five-sided structure, which was completed in 1943 after only 16 months of construction, covers 29 acres and houses branches of the Department of Defense. Tours lasting approximately 1 hour cover nearly 1.5 miles and provide an overview of the Department of Defense. Exhibits showcase military history. The Pentagon Memorial also is on the grounds.

Note: Tours are offered by advance reservation only. Reservations can be made at http://pentagontours.osd.mil. Visitors over age 17 must show a government-issued ID; non-citizens without a government-issued ID must show a passport. Large bags, including camera bags and backpacks, are discouraged. There is no visitor parking at the Pentagon; paid public parking is available at The Fashion Centre at Pentagon City Mall. Photography is not permitted inside or outside of the Pentagon, except for the photo area in the visitor center and at the Pentagon Memorial.

Guided tours are available.
