Fort Washington Park is at 13551 Fort Washington Rd. This imposing 1824 masonry structure overlooking the Potomac River can be entered by a drawbridge over a dry moat. Two guardrooms provide a glimpse of military life and punishment. The superb view from the front wall takes in both Washington to the north and Mount Vernon to the south. A visitor center offers exhibits and a video presentation.

Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
