Dumbarton House is in Georgetown at 2715 Q St. N.W. This Federal-period house, built about 1800, was the home of Joseph Nourse, Register of the U.S. Treasury from 1781 to 1829. The building contains fine examples of Federal furniture, paintings, silver and Chinese export porcelain as well as letters and documents signed by George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Dolley Madison. A small park and herb garden are on the grounds.
