National Japanese American Memorial to Patriotism During World War II, jct. Louisiana and New Jersey aves. and D St. N.W., pays tribute to 120,000 Japanese American men, women and children moved to detention camps in 1942 solely because of their ethnic roots.

Representing courage and triumph over oppression, a sculpture of two cranes struggling to break free from barbed wire is encircled by a wall engraved with the names of more than 800 Japanese American soldiers who gave their lives during the war.
