National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial is at Judiciary Square between E and F sts. and 4th and 5th sts. N.W.; a visitor center is a few blks. s.w. at 400 7th St. N.W. Inscribed on marble walls are the names of more than 20,000 law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty since the first known death in 1792. The memorial also contains tree-lined pathways, gardens, symbolic bronze lion statues and an 80-foot reflecting pool. The visitor center has exhibits and an interactive video kiosk.
