Air Mobility Command Museum is off SR 1/US 113 exit 91, then .7 mi e., following signs. Vintage airplanes and military aviation artifacts are displayed in a restored World War II hangar on Dover Air Force Base. The museum is home to the behemoth C-5A Galaxy, the largest airlifter in the Air Force; the VC-9C, which transported America's presidents, vice presidents and first ladies from 1975-2011; a B-17G (Flying Fortress); a C-47 airlift aircraft; a rare WWII CG-4A Glider; and C-124A and C-133B transports as well as jet fighters and trainers. Visitors are also able to fly free flight simulators, sit in a real jet cockpit, climb the control tower to watch airfield operations and learn from interactive exhibits.
