Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge is on US 441/SR 7, 2 mi. s. of jct. SR 804 (Boynton Beach Blvd.) or 3 mi. n. of jct. SR 806 (Atlantic Ave.). The 143,954-acre refuge is home to endangered and threatened species such as the snail kite, the wood stork and the American alligator. Migrating waterfowl gather in the winter. Features include an observation tower, 70 miles of nature trails, a 12-mile bicycle trail, a 5.5-mile canoe trail, a visitor center with exhibits, and facilities for fishing, boating and bird-watching.
