Marie Selby Botanical Gardens, US 41S at 900 S. Palm Ave., comprise more than 15 acres of lush gardens, including an elevated children's rainforest. The gardens specialize in epiphytes, or air plants. Among plants featured are orchids, bromeliads, carnivorous pitcher plants, succulent plants, and giant bamboo and banyan trees. An elevated boardwalk winds through a mangrove swamp. Other features include a butterfly garden and a museum of botanical art.
